tag: 7 things

ive finally got round to doing the tag that wonderful joanna sent me, thank you dear :)
check her blog ordinary style pulse, its so full of colour and fun, looking at it always makes me happy

so here goes, 7 things about me:
1. im not one of those people who "were always into fashion", in fact for most of my life i felt geeky and awkward. until the age of 16 i had thick glasses and railtrack braces but even after those were gone it took a while to get to know myself, figure out what i like and how to make the things i like look good on me. its only in the last couple of years that i've really been feeling confident. i think its down to 3 key things: meeting my boyfriend, starting the blog and changing careers.

2. im definitely into the doing-a-job-as-a-career thing and i could never imagine myself not-working. i used to write for music/lifestyle magazines, then i managed a hair salon and now im doing visual merchandising. while working in each one i just wanted to go higher and higher, i love the idea of women having big careers and great working-wardrobes (of course). who knows where i could go next!?

3. the biggest insult ive ever had was from a teacher who told me id never get anywhere because all i cared about were clothes and makeup. i had just started experimenting with fashion so it hurt me and i never forgot it but now i finally feel vindicated because my job (in clothes!) is going really well and ive met so many cool and talented people through the things he thought were superficial. booo to him!

4. even after 4 years of braces, my teeth aren't perfect. i was drinking from my alcopop on a bad night of clubbing when somebody elbowed the bottle into my front tooth breaking it in half. the dentist managed to fix it but overexcited people on the dancefloor still freak me out.
moral of the story: always drink with a straw!

5. another thing that freaks me out is seeing blood leaving my body when its not supposed to. once while having blood taken for a routine test, i  fainted at the sight of the full syringe, falling off the examining table, bumping my head and chipping one of my bottom teeth - a different one from point 4, heh.

6. i have to wear extra-large contact lenses beacuse the irises (coloured part) of my eyes are bigger than average. their colour is mostly green with a little brown mixed in, although some people think they're blue and a lot of people think i wear coloured lenses. kinda cool.

7. im quite pale-skinned which i used to hate. now i like it and spend most of my time hiding from the sun, something quite difficult in cyprus where everyone heads to the beach and the solarium for tanning.
pale and interesting, thats me!

i tag anyone who wants to be tagged! x

nice! i like tags about random things on someone's life!

i also had braces ('til the age of 13-14) and was so relieved when i got them off! i went through a lot with them... :s

oh and i was also not into clothes etc as well ('til a couple of years ago went i got to visit barcelona!). in fact shopping was quite boring for me and esp. all the trying out in the dressing room (i know, i was missing the fun part!)

i am pale, too!

and the story of the club/teeth incident was HORRIFYING! you poor thing! i just heard a worse story than yours that involved a loser drunk in vegas bashing a vodka bottle into the face of my sister's friend. he RUINED her teeth, and cut her lip all the way across. just awful! i am not a fan of huge loser drunks in bars and clubs that can't act human. idiots!

gah! sorry for my rant!

cyprus sounds so intriguing and mysterious! lucky you!

and i am so glad you can tell that herky jerky ex-boss of yours that he was WRONG about you, and that you are a success doing what you love!

Holy Cr**, the clubbing/drinking tooth stories are freakin me out!
Poor thing!

You know, when you are insulted or put down in a massive way, i always find that you come out stronger, better and more confident due to those put downs... Anyhow what a way to prove that duchebag wrong!

I'd never have guessed that you were "never into fashion" because you have lovely style. (you've inspired me to try trousers more)!

but I'm the same, I always felt awkward growing up and i totally identify with experimenting with fashion and trying to find your confidence.

cool post, enjoyed reading it x
